The Solar Metal Products Company had the premier design of ice cream containers in the 1920s and 1930s.  It eventually merged with the Sturges & Burns Company to make the Solar-Sturges Manufacturing Company. There were seven manufacturers of these ice cream cans used for transportation via rail at the time and were all caught up in a lawsuit in 1937 for price fixing.  It's really a fascinating history for fellow supply chain/manufacturing/history nerds
